How to Choose a Desiccant Solution by Cargo Type and Transit Time

Cargo type determines sensitivity

Highly moisture-sensitive cargo such as electronics, metal components, or leather products generally needs more careful assessment than less sensitive cargo. Sealed packaging (boxes, bags, cartons) is usually suited to silica gel or clay desiccant, while container-scale spaces with a high moisture load typically call for a CaCl₂ desiccant.

Transit time affects quantity

Longer routes involve extended exposure to humidity and generally warrant a higher quantity than shorter routes. Season and climate along the route are also factors to weigh alongside cargo type.
